Designing apps for the moments that matter

Why we build for outcomes, not engagement metrics — and what that means in practice.

There’s a kind of app design that optimizes for time-on-screen — and a kind that respects it. We try to do the second.

Start with the moment

Every screen we design is for a specific moment in someone’s life: a 3am feeding, a missed bus, a habit they almost forgot, a friend who hasn’t come home yet. If you can name that moment precisely, the design almost writes itself.

Quiet beats clever

The best mobile interfaces feel inevitable. Big tap targets. One primary action per screen. Soft, deliberate motion. Restraint isn’t a style — it’s a kindness.

Build like you’ll maintain it

Cross-platform stacks let small teams ship a lot. We use them — Capacitor, Ionic, and increasingly Swift/Kotlin where it counts — and we write code we’d be happy to read three years from now. Tests at the boundaries. Boring choices in the middle. Performance budgeted from day one.

Privacy as a feature

The apps we admire most are the ones we trust most. We collect what we need, store what we must, and never sell what isn’t ours.

That’s the brief.
